Goats have long been a dream for our homestead and I studied long and hard (over three years!) before taking the plunge. Our only regret is that we didn't get them sooner. We decided on Nigerian Dwarf dairy goats for many reasons, not the least of which are their small size, quality milk and their adorable personalities. Once we acquired our first goats we had to come up with a herd name - oh my! We kicked around a lot of names but nothing seemed to "fit".
When our grandson, Hunter, was around three years old, he went through a phase where everything was "just my size". If he was helping my husband, "Papa, this hammer's just my size". If we saw a bicycle, "Grandma, that bike's just my size". And so on. So when we ventured into this wonderful world of goats, the Nigerian Dwarf is, indeed, "just our size". And that's how our herd became "JustRSize".
